America's Got Talent

Ron Doron

America has quietly caught and in some segments surpassed their Japanese counterparts. Here is a list of 10 American cars I would personally purchase over foreign competitors:

  1. Chrysler 300 - this stylish, affordable, powerful rear-wheel drive full-size sedan may be the best buy in America. Hard to find this combination for around $35,000. And the engine and transmission are dramatically improved, creating separation from the competition.
  2. Chevy Cruze - Arguably the most refined and stylish compact sedan you can buy in America. The Cruze looks good from all angles, is great on gas, and features the best 6-speed transmissions in the segment.
  3. Cadillac CTS-V - General Motors deserves a lot of credit for not only making the CTS-V Sedan, but expanding that dream into a Coupe and Wagon. The CTS-V is dripping with excess racing DNA and it's evident with every rev, every shift, and every turn. Take that Germany!
  4. Ford Explorer - Despite abandoning the body on frame design that lasted over 20 years, the NEW unibody Explorer is a terrific vehicle that is as capable as it is practical. Those who yearn for the old Explorer need to get behind the wheel of this one and experience the perfect combination of quality and technology.
  5. Chevy Volt - The World's only extended-range, plug-in Electric vehicle. Enough said. An engineering marvel and a smart car that belongs in your garage.
  6. Ram Truck - Once the joke of the pickup truck world, the much improved Ram is as fun to drive on the road as it is capable when it comes to towing and hauling.
  7. Ford Mustang Boss 302 - I can't believe I'm saying this, but after 45+ years of Mustangs, this is the first one I would own. Ford FINALLY listened and payed attention to things like suspension, handling, steering, and performance. Sure there are more powerful cars, but none that can handle the power like the Boss 302 can.
  8. Ford F150 EcoBoost - Pickup trucks will never be the same again thanks to the F150 EcoBoost. V6 fuel economy with V8 power. Outstanding!
  9. Jeep Grand Cherokee - A nicely equipped Grand Cherokee is as nice to drive as a Lexus GX or Land Rover LR4. That says a lot since they cost much more. Jeep really paid attention to quality and incorporated better materials, and the end-result is a luxury SUV that rocks!
  10. GMC Terrain - The Terrain is a manly-looking crossover on the outside, and a posh, comfortable cabin on the inside. It has some terrific amenities that make you feel like you're driving a luxury vehicle, even though it is priced under $30K.
